World Energies Summit 2026 to Feature Bangladesh’s Growing Offshore Gas Opportunity

Bangladesh's Bay of Bengal is one of South Asia's most promising untapped offshore frontiers. With energy demand growing fast and import costs rising, unlocking new domestic gas reserves has become a genuine national priority - and a real opportunity for international operators.

In May, state-owned Bangladesh Oil, Gas & Mineral Corporation (PETROBANGLA) opened its Offshore Bidding Round 2026, covering 26 blocks - 11 shallow-water, 15 deep-water - under a rebuilt Model Production Sharing Contract designed to attract international operators.

With that bid round closing 20 November, Bangladesh joins the World Energies Summit later this month to put this frontier basin directly in front of the global upstream industry's operators, investors and technical experts. For a market at this stage, that level of access is critical.
